Outside on her own time, she volunteers, is active within her community, advises youth on financial advice, job markets and creates opportunities for marginalized folks. She's also a Scarborough-based visual artist. Her visual work focuses on watercolour, gouache, oil, acrylic, zine making and as of lately, public art. Tapping into public art has taken a front seat in her design work within the last 2 years, experimenting with a variety of styles. She is also a set designer by practice (theatrical/film). She enjoys experimenting with mixed media, capturing human nature, animals, movement, deconstructivism and a sustainable lens base to her conservation practices.
Wasifa’s art, designs and prose have been showcased on numerous occasions by Scarborough Arts, York University, Guild Festival Theatre, the Toronto Public Library, plazaPOPS, Worth Gallery and for themes of identity, migration, mental health advocacy and environmental conservation in Canada.
