Sahar Khuja is a dynamic leader with over a decade of experience across the media and nonprofit sectors, working in both Afghanistan and Canada. Her work has focused on project management, program development, business development, and women’s empowerment.

Most recently, Sahar served as Senior Manager, Program Development at the Toronto Region Immigrant Employment Council (TRIEC), where she led initiatives supporting skilled immigrant professionals in the Greater Toronto Area. Before relocating to Canada, she was the Director of SAMO Media Organization, a leading Afghan media outlet with over 102 media partners and a nationwide reach of 22 million people. 

In 2021, she briefly stepped in as Acting President of SAMO during Afghanistan’s critical regime transition, ensuring operational continuity and supporting staff through a turbulent time.Sahar also co-founded the Salam Women’s Union within SAMO to advocate for gender equity and create pathways for Afghan women in media to pursue leadership roles within the media sector, addressing the lack of women in leadership roles across the industry in Afghanistan.

Beyond her professional work and deep commitment to advocacy and women’s empowerment, she is passionate about both charitable and philanthropic efforts, often organizing initiatives, individually or alongside friends, to support people in need. She also holds a strong appreciation for storytelling and the arts, recognizing their power to amplify unheard voices and inspire meaningful social change.
