I was born in Lahore, Pakistan. My family moved to Canada in 2004, when I was nine (I’m a diaspora kid). I grew up in Etobicoke, completed a BSc in Biomedical Science at the University of Waterloo, and a Master of Public Health at Simon Fraser University (specializing in social inequities in health). Currently, I’m working as a research and policy analyst at Mohawk College where I’m also completing a Project Management Professional graduate certificate.
I am passionate about using research and evaluation to make evidence-informed decisions. I am interested in exploring creative and innovative solutions to complex social and structural problems such as poverty, sexism, racism, etc. (i.e., oppression) The root cause of oppression is an inequitable distribution of power and privilege. My journey has brought me to the Women in Power program where I hope to meet women with common interests and grow my community of support.
