Maryam's passion for advocating for human rights and social justice led her to participate in international humanitarian aid work in 2016. The experience sparked her interest in policy and health promotion and inspired her to pursue graduate school in public health with a focus on global health.
Currently, she is a project coordinator at Fraser Health Authority's Diversity,
Equity, Inclusion and Language Services department in British Columbia. Acknowledging the various forms of discrimination and oppression, Maryam
is committed to actively learning about equity, anti-discrimination, and anti-oppression lenses and applying those lenses to her work while consciously challenging her own biases.Nature, hiking, yoga, dancing, good food, and spending time with friends and family all bring Maryam special joy!
